Barry is a raw, young forward who a lot of people have compared with new teammate Beto. While there are some minor similarities in their play, there are a lot more differences than similarities in my opinion. Barry is quick and a powerful runner who loves to receive it with his back to goal and then either lay it off and spin in behind, or spin his marker and run with the ball.

He is lively in the box and strong in the air, with decent service he could become a regular goalscorer, despite his finishing being inconsistent. Barry favours hitting it with the outside of his right foot, whenever possible, which makes for a lovely looking goal when it comes off, but he could do with varying his shots a bit more. His crossing was not good in the few instances I saw of him trying to put in a cross, but he usually tried to pick a pass when on the ball out wide.

His link up play is decent, but he tries to run with the ball too much when a simple pass is on, instead he will keep charging forward like a bull in a china shop. Barry does have some tricks to use to enable him to get away from his marker, when standing still and holding them off, but when running, it is very much head down and push it into space and chase it. He is very direct and always looking to attack.

Overall, a very raw, young talent, but his weaknesses are mainly things that improve with experience. The strengths in Barry's game are extremely well suited to a David Moyes team, it is easy to see why he was chosen. The biggest issue now will be in getting him the service he needs from wide areas, as he attacks crosses so well.
