Watching him play, you can easily see why he was seen as a Barca-type of player and, consequently, he does look very suited to the way Potter likes to play football. Todibo is very much a ball-playing centre-back, in fact, technically he is exceptional for a centre-back. He is fully capable of carrying the ball out from the back when space opens up in front of him, in fact he is capable of beating a man with the ball at times too.



He has a very good range of passing too, making him particularly useful when looking to make quick counters or break a press. On the ball, overall he is one of the better centre-backs around right now, though he does seem to struggle at times mentally. Todibo can be very rash in general, which can make him error-prone, both when defending and when on the ball.



Defensively, he is big, quick and strong, but tends to rely on his physicality too much, which can be brilliant when it is coming off, but always runs the risk of him just being embarrassed. Added to that, he does tend to mark a little too loosely for my liking, though that is something that can be easily worked on in training. Todibo looks to use his pace to nip in and take the ball, giving himself a bit of space to do that, but I would prefer my defenders to put themselves in a position that it makes it difficult for the attacker to be given the ball in the first place.



As a Premier League defender, he is very much suited to the league, with his pace, decent on the turn as well, and physicality, Todibo is very much what is looked for and it is little wonder he had attracted a lot of attention over the years. Add that to his ability on the ball and it is just a surprise that he had not made the move sooner. That could turn out to be very much the Hammers' gain, with the big Frenchman just entering his peak years at the age of 25.
