Milambo is a tricky technically adept midfielder, who is mostly famous for being hyped up as a hidden future talent in EA's latest versions of their FIFA game (EAFC). I can see why he is seen as such in the game, due to a high level of technique and skill, added to quick feet and a good football brain. He also looks very decent in 1-on-1 defensive situations, particularly in a press where he can use his faster foot speed to nick a ball away from an opponent.
On top of that, he has very good vision and a decent passing range to go with it, all stuff that works well on paper and is good to have, but there are a lot of caveats with him. For starters, while Milambo is very mobile in the midfield, he is not that strong, he can be bullied. A lack of strength also transmits to his shot power, which is weak, probably explaining why all the goals he has scored were placed shots - a good keeper would save anything that is not well placed.
Another issue that presents itself is time - he needs time and space right now to be effective, which you do not get as much of in the Premier League as you do in the Eredivisie. Milambo is clever, but he needs to have time to think ahead to produce those moments, something which you rarely get in the English league. You can see him set himself to play a flick while the ball is coming into him, plenty of time for better quality defenders to use their body to disrupt his plan.
Playing for Brentford, Milambo will have no shortage of more physical midfielders alongside him, so his weaknesses should not be as much of an issue as if he signed for someone like Manchester United and was playing alongside Bruno Fernandes. Like Fernandes, he needs a physical presence alongside him to break up the play and allow him to get on the ball more. Milambo is very much a player that you want to get on the ball and let him attack the opponent, rather than have him spending his time chasing back towards his own goal for 90 minutes.
